Upon arrival at YANGON international airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and drive to BAGO (84 km – 1½h). was founded in the year 825 by two Mon princes. The town, a former ancient port and capital, is situated about 84 km (approximately 2 hours driving time) from Yangon. Sightseeing in Bago starts with a visit to KYAKHTWINE monastery, over thousand of monk living on its premises and studying the Buddha’s literature.
The tour continues then to the over a thousand years old SHWEMAWDAW PAGODA with its spire, and repaired after an earthquake in the 1930’s, taller than the SHWEDAGON PAGODA.
And proceed to the KIN PUN 'base camp' at the foot of the hills, (110 km - 3 ½ hours) to change our mode of transport to an open truck. The ride is shared with local pilgrimage makers for the next 11km to YATHETAUNG base camp, located 500m below the summit ridge.
Please note that the journey is made in open trucks, which are very crowded and uncomfortable (be aware of this before you decide to join this tour).
From there must be traveled by foot, at present, and the walk is approximately 4 km (1 hour) up a steep pave trails to the GOLDEN ROCK on top of the mountain range. If you wish to take a more comfortable approach, you can sit back and be carried in sedan chairs by four porters. This will incur an extra cost of approx. US$ 15.00 to 20p.p. per way (price depends on availability and guest’ body weight and is to be paid directly on the spot).
And then we reach to one of Myanmar's landmarks, famous for its precarious position and religious importance, KYAIKTIYO the 'Golden Rock' is a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff.
Enjoy impressive views over the surrounding jungle and a beautiful sunset.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en-route.
Dinner at hotel and overnight stay at the Mountain Top Resort (**, Deluxe room) or Golden Rock Hotel
(**, Deluxe room).
We suggest to wake up early for to enjoy beautiful sunrise views and a quiet morning stroll from summit.
After breakfast, walking down and to descending back to the Kinpun base camp. And drive back to BAGO and visit enormous 55-meter long reclining SHWE THA LYAUNG Buddha, which is among one of the country's most impressive images.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Bago and continue visit KYAIK PUN PAGODA with 30 meter high of four giant Buddha images, outside of Bago city.
And on heading back to Yangon, en route visit an Allied War Graves cemetery near HTAUK KYANIt houses the graves of more than 27,000 allied soldiers. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission administers this beautifully landscaped cemetery. And then return back in Yangon, transfer to your hotel. Dinner is your own account. Overnight stay in Yangon.
After breakfast, visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, one of the wonders of the
world the SHWEDAGON PAGODA. And then proceed to the
magnificent reclining Buddha at CHAUK HTAT GYI. Your journey
continues with a tour through colonial-style city center of
Yangon. Visit golden SULE PAGODA built over 2,000 years ago.
And see the impressive city hall of Yangon.
And continue to see famous for some of Yangon's most
impressive colonial buildings.
Visit BOTATAUNG PAGODA located beside the Yangon’s river.
